Teaching

I began teaching improv at Deakin University in 2019 and continued up until 2021 ending just before I started my Honours Degree in Creative Arts.  I went back in 2024 and now I back again on 2026 teaching Improv and Directing a 2nd year production unit.

I have taught and directed at Federation University since 2017. After a wee break of a a year or two I’m back teaching foundation skills with the first years. 2026 is clown that will be a blast.

I ran Extreme Character workshops at the Malthouse Theatre throughout 2015 for a variety of Victorian highschools and their drama students. In these workshops I examine a range of physical  provocations to begin character exploration. These tecniques are great ways to bypass the intellect and create work that is spontatenous and surprising. The workshops also looks at ways to develop and refine characters as well as create them from scratch.

For three years I taught performance at the National Institute of Circus Arts and in the dim distant past, also for about three years, I taught character and improvisation at Victoria University’s performance course.

Living as I do in Geelong I also teach improvisation and performance for the screen at the  Mooregrace Acting Studios in Geelong. (2014- 2015)
